When the plane taking me back home passed through the cushions of clouds permanently covering the UK skies at this time of year, I realised just how much I wanted it to turn back around and head to Cuba again!
It was in that moment that I stopped thinking about all the bragging I planned to do while describing my fantastic Cuba holidays and new Cuban adventures to my friends, and started thinking about how much I was really going to miss Cuba; the beautiful 20-kilometre-long stretch of beach in Varadero, the clear blue skies reflected in the green-blue waters of the Caribbean Sea… Not even the prospect of Sunday football and premier league results could cheer me up!
I just cannot stop thinking about the sunshine-filled streets of Havana City and the many people I met there while trying out my salsa steps in Havana’s “house of music” (Casa de la Musica). I’m not sure if it was the grey colour of the skies in London or the glittering memories of my recent holiday but I just wanted to go back so badly. I guess I fell in love with Cuba and the Cuban people when I was out there…
The truth is I can’t wait to visit Cuba again, so I guess I already have my New Year resolution – another trip to Cuba!
